Introduction
Welcome to the Kecoughtan High School Writing Tutorial. This program has been designed to support students with writing for a variety of purposes, including the SOL Writing test. You can navigate through the program in several different ways depending on what support you need. You can choose to view the entire tutorial or jump directly to the practice prompts. We recommend you go through the entire tutorial at least once for practice and examples.
Tutorial: The first part of the program offers a step-by-step tutorial. You can move from one screen to the next to walk through the entire process. If you need to hear a section repeated, use the Refresh Button on your browser, then click the Play Button again. Use the back arrow on your browser to return to a previous screen.
Practice Prompts: Several released SOL Prompts are available as a second part of the program. You can use the prompt to practice setting up an essay response as you will for the official End-of-Course SOL. Scoring Rubrics and reminders are provided to help you work through and evaluate your responses.
